American poplar hardwoods have a fine, close
grain pattern with a smooth texture ideal for stained
or painted finishes.
American Poplar is a medium density wood with excellent
strength and stability. Poplar is even textured and closed grained.
The wood is pale greenish-yellow to white. Occasional dark purple streaks
occur.
The tight closed grain results in outstanding paintability.
If you are staining we recommend using darker stains.
Paint wash finishes and clear finishes are not recommended because
of the greenish tint of the wood. Poplar wood can be stained in a nice
cherry or walnut color.
